This guide provides the necessary steps to safely isolate and de-isolate specific zones on the Strathdale Fire Panel. Isolation prevents false alarms during activities that generate dust, heat, or smoke, ensuring the facility remains operational without unnecessary emergency department call-outs.
Isolation is a temporary safety measure. Common reasons include:
Maintenance: Testing detectors or cleaning components.
Construction/Works: Drilling, sanding, or cable installation that creates dust.
Hot Works: Welding or soldering that generates heat and smoke.
Mandatory Safety Requirement: All zones must be de-isolated before the end of the business day. The Site or Project Manager must verify that the panel is fully operational to ensure the ongoing safety of all residents and staff.
Before beginning, inspect the panel face.
No Red Lights: There should be no active fire alarms (red LEDs) on the panel.
Orange Lights: These indicate existing isolations or faults. Ensure you are only adding to these if necessary.
Select Zone: Press the Zone button, followed by the specific zone number (e.g., for Zone 14, press Zone + 1 + 4).
Confirm Selection: Press OK.
Disable: Press the Disable button.
Confirm Action: A prompt will appear asking if you wish to isolate the zone. Press OK to confirm.
Verify: The corresponding orange LED for that zone should now be illuminated.
Select Zone: Press the Zone button and enter the number of the isolated zone.
Confirm Selection: Press OK.
Enable: Press the Disable button (this acts as a toggle).
Confirm Action: A prompt will ask if you wish to de-isolate/enable the zone. Press OK.
Final Check: Ensure the orange light for that zone has turned off.
At the conclusion of works, the Site/Project Manager must perform a final walk-through of the panel.
Confirm all orange isolation lights are off (unless specifically authorized for long-term isolation).
Ensure the "System Healthy" or "Power On" green light is the only primary indicator active.
