How to Access Files in Google Drive

How To Open Files And Documents

  1. Open Google Chrome by pressing the Chrome logo from your bottom bar on your screen after logging in.
  2. Your Apps will appear on your Dashboard when Google Chrome opens. Select Drive and Docs from the Your Apps page.

Your Personal My Drive [i.e. My Documents]

  1. Your My Drive will automatically open when you first open Drive and Docs.
  2. Your My Drive is similar to 'My Documents' on Windows where you can access and save relevant documents.
  3. Other people (except for IT Department) are not able to access the files that are saved in your My Drive unless you share the files with them. 

Accessing Your Shared Drives [i.e. Network Drives]

  1. Shared Drives appear below your My Drive to the left of the page.
  2. Shared Drives are 'team' areas where lots of people can see the files depending on thier role
  3. Access your Shared Drives by clicking on the Shared Drives text or by selecting the arrow to the left of the text.
  4. This will open the folders that have been shared with you.
